Social, political, economic and sanitary conflicts have the great majority of Latin American countries on edge. In many cases, these conflicts already existed before the appearance of COVID 19 and it only increased them like the main channel of a river that is fed by secondary branches and tributaries.

Globally, the pandemic generated the most important economic recession since World War II, but it is our region that has suffered the most. Global GDP contracted by 3% in 2020, but in Latin America and the Caribbean, output plummeted by 7%.

This fall can be explained by two major factors: health and economic. Both are closely linked.

In addition to the health crisis and their economic consequences, we must add other types of social conflicts in our region.

To sum up, our region is going through health, economic, political and social problems, which potential solutions will define the next years of Latin America.
